My blog is working again

by Graffen 25. October 2009 23:18

I finally got around to taking a look at what was causing my blog to return 404 errors on most posts. It turned out that it was one specific (spam) comment on almost every single post that caused BlogEngine.NET to freak out somehow.

I’ve now upgraded to the latest version, deleted the bad comment on most posts and everything again seems to be working alright.

I have a few posts lined up for here that I’ll post over the next few weeks, so stay tuned :-)

Oh – and I’ll be moving in 2 weeks… back to good old Denmark. The story behind that decision is a whole post of its own.

This is the building we're moving into (it's been finished for 2 years by now)

Holiday time again and a very short update

by Jesper Hess Nielsen 29. June 2008 07:57
In a few hours I'll be flying to Vienna before heading on to Postojna (Slovenia), Venice, Trieste and ultimately, Amsterdam where I will be taking part in Sensation White. I haven't been blogging much at all lately. Things have been really hectic at work so I haven't really been able to find the time.

I've started working on a new version of my free SubVersion hosting system. The frontend will be done using the new ASP.NET MVC Framework and I hope to get the backend a bit more "enterprise-like" - probably by using message queueing and/or WCF to pass notices between the frontend and backend. We'll see. I haven't decided 100% yet.

Oh - and yesterday I decided to start using Twitter much more actively. I already have a couple of followers but feel free to add me. I've installed Twibble on my N95 8GB, so everywhere I have Internet access I should be able to update.

Happy New Year

by Jesper Hess Nielsen 2. January 2008 07:00

So, we survived. And now it's 2008. I thought I would just write a couple of lines about what's going on in my life. Mostly because it'll be fun reading it next year and seeing how much (if anything) has changed.

Well... I'm still working for Infopaq. I started here last May, as a software engineer. Back in September, I was given more of a project manager type of role, spending most of my time keeping a small team of developers busy as well as shielding them from the rest of the organisation ;-). Anyway, I'm really enjoying it even though it's hard work sometimes. Right now, I'm busy doing a little coding myself, working on a proof of concept for a large potential customer. Hopefully I'll be done in a few days. I'm also hoping that I'll be allowed to hire an extra developer soon.

So what else is going on? Hmm. Well I'm going on a small vacation in March, together with my brothers. We'll be visiting Botswana (where I grew up) for the first time since we left in 1994. The plan is to spend a couple of days in Gaborone and then head north on a week long safari. I'm really looking forward to it. Now I just need to try to save up some money to buy that video camera I've always wanted. I've been looking at a Canon HG10 which records HD-quality video on its built-in 40GB hard drive.

All in all, I'm pretty satisfied with where my life is going at the moment - all i need to do is get around to blogging some more :)

Skanderborg Festival 2007

by Jesper Hess Nielsen 14. August 2007 11:03

So we just got back from our first ever Skanderborg Festival. And oh boy it was great! We weren't there as regular guests but had accepted an offer to work in one of the many(!) bars at the festival. The theme of the bar was a petrol station so we all wore dirty overalls and torn t-shirts while on the job. Anyway, it was really a blast. All of us had quite a lot of fun.

See lots of pics here

Congratulations Allan & Olga and welcome to the world, Max!

by Jesper Hess Nielsen 23. July 2007 07:58
I just got a call from Allan who told me that Olga had just given birth to a perfect baby boy with dark, curly hair. Check Allan's blog for updates - he'll be posting pictures shortly.

Congratulations to all three of you!

On our way home...

by Jesper Hess Nielsen 30. June 2007 07:07

I just found a wireless hotspot. We've left the house in Balatonalmádi and have returned the key. So ahead lies 2 days travel before I'm home. We'll be sleeping over in Teplice in the Czech republic which is almost exactly on the halfway mark.

I'll make sure to post a sh*tload of pictures once I get back home on my (faster) internet connection.

An update...

by Jesper Hess Nielsen 20. May 2007 19:33

Okay so it's been a little over a month since I was let go from Mondosoft. And what a month it's been. I've been so busy running around to job interviews and answering mails and phone calls from people who wanted to hire me that I simply haven't had time to write anything on here. But now I've finally chosen my new employer. Starting tomorrow I'll be joining the great team at Infopaq International as a software engineer. It's going to be really exciting.

The past weekend has been spent doing pretty much nothing but flying my R/C plane and just hanging out with lots of other enthusiasts (or... nerds, if you prefer ;-)) at the first ever annual "Svenska RC-Flygförbund Meeting". Check out a few of my pics at http://picasaweb.google.com/graffen

Wow! What an overwhelming experience!

by Jesper Hess Nielsen 13. April 2007 19:48

I've been out of my job for 4 days now and have been completely swamped in emails and phone calls from people who are interested in hiring me. It's really amazing. I never imagined I'd be in a position where I had to basically pick any job I wanted. I went to the first two interviews today and already have two booked for next week (and judging from the amount of email I'm getting, I'll probably get a lot more interviews). And the best part is that I really don't have to hurry as I'm getting paid for 4 months to come.

I'll keep you all updated as to what happens!

The end of an era...

by Jesper Hess Nielsen 11. April 2007 05:37

An interesting thing happened at work yesterday. I had 5 fantastic years at Mondosoft and I am really going to miss working with all my great colleagues. But sadly, times have changed and so has the market along with them. Basically all this means that I'm going to be looking for new adventures. My friend and ex-colleague Allan puts it pretty well in his blog.

I too will probably spend some time at home getting all my little projects sorted out but am definately interested in hearing from anyone who might be looking for someone who feels really at home i C#/.NET :-)

UPDATE: For anyone interested, I've attached my CV. Feel free to use my contact details to get in touch.

My legs hurt so bad this morning!

by Jesper Hess Nielsen 12. March 2007 08:27

Okay, admitted, it's my own fault. I went skiing on Saturday at a small ski resort in Sweden called Isaberg. It's not that big but it's perfect for a one-day outing if you get a ski-craving.

I'm not (at all) the best skiier in the world. Truthfully I only really tried skiing twice before in my life. But I managed to stay upright most of the time and actually began to get the hang of it. The biggest problem was that the temperature hadn't been below freezing for over a week so the snow that was left was really lousy. But nonetheless I had a really good time. And like I said, I'm paying the price today. My thighs are really killing me ;-)

Coincidentally, one of my younger brothers had also decided to go skiing with a friend - I met up with them at the top of one of the slopes.
